Walker County is located along US Highway 27 and Highway 136 and is home to the cities of Chickamauga, LaFayette, Lookout Mountain and Rossville. Our community’s natural beauty and location in northwest Georgia offers a variety of recreational opportunities, attractions, unique places to stay and available properties for economic development.
The Walker County Development Authority is dedicated to working with new and existing businesses, both large and small, to assist with any site location and/or expansion needs. A variety of national and international companies already call Walker County home. Roper Corporation, Shaw Industries, Audia Plastics located in the Walker County Business Park and Hitachi Astemo Rock Spring located in the Northwest Georgia Business and Industrial Park are among the top employers in Walker County.
Business advantages include workforce development and training assistance, tax incentives, bond financing and a PILOT program. Other advantages to a site location in Walker County include access to quality transportation networks, infrastructure, fiber, and a skilled labor force.
Walker County is committed to the education of its citizens. Our graduation rates are above the state rate and have continued to increase each school year. Walker County Schools mission “is to ensure all students graduate ready for college, work, and life”; and boasts a graduation rate of 92. The Chickamauga City School District is dedicated to the success of all students and boasts a graduation rate of 100. We are pleased to have Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC), a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG), as a higher education institution located in our community. GNTC provides occupational education, skills training, and workforce development to support educational, economic, and community development.
